A great peony article in the January issue of SAF Floral Management.

The two-page article with great photos included the following paragraph...

"In past years, this popularity has proved somewhat problematic, as winter brides are just as smitten with peonies as those getting hitched in April, May and June, when the flower is in season in the continental United States.  Now, though, florists can easily get their hands on peonies 10 months out of the year, due to increased production in Chile (October through January) and Alaska (July through September), said Red Kennicott, chairman and CEO of Kennicott Brothers Co., Inc. in Chicago, a wholesale company that has shipped peonies for 130 years. "There are plans to expand peony availability from Chile, where peonies are still "an infant industry,' into February in the near future," he said, which means the peony may soon become available for Valentine's Day.
